Who is Lord Narasimha?
Lord Narasimha is considered to be the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu among his ten incarnations. His form is considered to be very unique among all the incarnations because Lord Narasimha had half body of a human and half body of a lion. Lord Vishnu had taken this incarnation especially to protect his devotee Prahlad and to kill demon king Hiranyakashyap.
Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyap were two brothers. Out of these, the elder brother Hiranyakashy was killed by Lord Vishnu in the form of Varah when Lord Vishnu took his 3rd incarnation. After the killing of his elder brother, Hiranyakashyap became the king of Asura Lok and he started the penance of Brahma Ji to become the lord of all the three worlds. Brahma Ji was very pleased with his penance and gave him a boon that he would neither be killed by a human nor by an animal, he would neither die during the day nor at night, he would neither die inside the house nor outside, he would neither die by any weapon nor by any weapon.
After getting this boon, Hiranyakashyap felt that now no one in this world can kill him and he declared in all the worlds that nobody will take the name of Lord Vishnu and said that whoever takes the name of Narayan will be given death penalty. However his own son was born as a devotee of Lord Vishnu..
Hiranyakashyap made many attempts to kill his son, out of which one attempt was to burn him in fire along with his sister, this event is celebrated as the festival of Holi. Once when Hiranyakashyap asked his son to stick to a hot pillar to kill him, Prahlad, thinking the pillar to be Lord Vishnu, embraced the pillar respectfully. By the grace of Lord Vishnu, the burning pillar also became cold and nothing happened to Prahlad.
Then Hiranyakashyap got angry and attacked his son with a sword and asked, tell me where is your Vishnu. Then Prahlad said that Lord Vishnu is everywhere, even in this pillar. As soon as Hiranyakashipu moved forward to attack Prahlad and the pillar, Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha form appeared from the pillar. Making this boon of Brahma Ji futile, Lord Vishnu killed him in the evening, at the entrance of the house, with his nails, in the form of half man and half lion.
This incident proved that God’s plan and power is beyond human understanding, and he is capable of doing justice no matter what the situation is.

Matsya Avatar

Kurma Avatar
In this form, Lord Vishnu took the form of a turtle and stabilized Mount Mandarachal for churning the ocean, which yielded Amrit.
Varaha Avatar
In this avatar, God took the form of a giant Varah (boar) and freed the earth from the clutches of the demon named Hiranyaksha and re-stabilized it in the universe.
It is clear from these avatars that Lord Vishnu appears in every era in the right time and form to protect the creation and establish Dharma.
